Synopsis:
Adopted into an African-American family, Julian, a young man of Chinese heritage, is accepted into the Lee family and grows up as part of a tight-knit community in Atlanta. When his father dies, Julian is left with the responsibility of raising his younger African-American brother Perry. The two boys and their mother move to South Central Los Angeles in search of a better life. Julian soon finds that the community believes he is pretending to be black because of how he looks rather that who he is. His little brother Perry is also involved in a steet gang and Julian must come to grips with his own identity in order to save his brother's life and remain true to his father's words of wisdom.
