The story of the evolving friendship between a bourgeois Israeli woman and an illegal Ethiopian immigrant, Foreign Sister has as its protagonist Naomi, a 50-year-old woman who is on the verge of a nervous breakdown despite ostensibly having it all, including a dishy husband and two loving kids. Things begin to change when Naomi hires Nigiset, an Ethiopian Christian, to work as a maid for her mother-in-law. The encounters between Naomi and Nigiset push Naomi's life in a new direction and expose her to the plight of Israel's more underprivileged citizens.
