Gamos Sto Perithorio (1989)
Synopsis
Around the time of World War One, Photini (Aleka Paizi) and Elias (Stavros Xenidis) were fiancees. Life, the wars, and other marriages intervened, and now they are both eighty or nearly so. While traveling to his home village to vote, Elias sees Photini, now long-since widowed. He decides at least to renew their acquaintance. One thing leads to another, and soon they are dear friends once again. When Photini confides this new relationship with her daughter, the younger woman is horrified that her mother will make a laughingstock of herself. Photini, taken aback by this, almost breaks it off, but Elias manages to persuade her to join him for a trip to Athens. There, they have a thoroughly good time. This romantic comedy won awards in its native Greece, and was extremely popular there.
