Happy Life (2011)

Synopsis

Legendary filmmaker Abel Ferrara serves as Executive Producer of writer/director Matthew M. Bilandic's dark comedy about a New York City record store owner who's hopelessly stuck in the past, yet desperate to remain relevant in an era he can't relate to. When Keith (Tom McCaffrey) isn't behind the counter at his struggling, all-dance record store New York Tunez, he dropping trance beats as the resident DJ at a local tapas restaurant. When Keith's side-gig comes to a sudden and unexpected end, he realizes his record store is in danger, and plans to throw retro-themed rave to help pay the rent and strengthen his slipping influence. But between battling the arbiters of cool, bargaining with his insufferable landlord, and attempting to deal with a once-famous headlining DJ who cares more about smoking crack than spinning beats, it quickly becomes apparent that drawing a crowd is going to be more difficult than Keith ever anticipated.
