Synopsis
The 1930 Paramount production Sarah and Son may well have set a record for the number of foreign-language versions produced. In addition to the English, German, French and Spanish versions, there was also a Swedish adaptation, Hjartats Rost (Voice of the Heart). Replacing the original film's Ruth Chatterton is Margit Manstad, cast as an actress who is forced to give up her illegitimate son to a foster family. Ten years later, she returns to fight for the custody of her son. Representing the foster parents is handsome attorney Richard Lund (in the role first played by Fredric March), who ends up falling in love with the actress. Like most of the foreign versions of Sarah and Son, Hjartats Rost was filmed in France at Paramount's Joinville studios.
