Synopsis

Claes Olsson directed this Finnish comedy adapted from Monika Fagerholm's novel which has been translated into nine languages. Set during the 1960s, the story takes place over three years at Paradise, a summer retreat preferred by upper-class Helsinki citizens. The story focuses on the friendship of two women -- Paradise regular Rosa (with husband Kajus and son Thomas) and attractive Bella (with wild husband Gabbe and daughter Renee). The families socialize, and the two women remain friends -- even after an affair between Gabbe and Rosa. Shown at the 1998 Haugesund Film Festival.
