Synopsis

Previously unseen footage of the attack on the Moneda and of some of Salvador Allende's last official speeches add interest to this 1979 documentary on the 1973 coup which toppled the Marxist Allende's Chilean government. Allende's widow and Augusto Pinochet (who led the next government of Chile) are interviewed, along with numerous fighters on the losing side. Though Pinochet is interviewed, the filmmakers' sympathies are clearly entirely on the losers' side, and the film (curiously, it would seem) features many favorable mentions of Castro's Cuban regime.
