Synopsis:

Venetian aristocrat the Marquis Della Porta is having an affair with a courtesan Veronica. One of the servants is in love with Veronica, and she in turn has a complicated relationship with Della Porta's uptight secretary Jacopo. Their tangled loves will take second place, however, when the Marquis is taken for questioning by the Spanish Inquisition.
