Synopsis:
In rural France in the 1930s, a group of people live a marginal life in the marshland outside a bourgeois town. Riton is a pleasant man, though too fond of the local wine, and his friend Garron is also good-hearted though has never quite recovered from World War I. The after-effects of the war haunt the men, and camaraderie is mostly what gets them through life.
