Produced by the Major League Baseball Video division, A Call to Arms details the Great Pennant Race of 1990. The "protagonists" of this sports documentary are the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics. Both teams struggle beyond human endurance to repeat their pennant wins of the previous seasons. The whole thing narrows down to strength -- and weakness -- in pitching. For every gain made, there is a setback, usually in the form of debilitating injury. Though we know the outcome, A Call to Arms succeeds in assembling its "actuality" footage into the semblance of a suspense yarn.
