Melekler Evi (2001)

Melekler Evi (2001)

Synopsis

The tenuous nature of life and politics in Eastern Europe provides the underpinnings for this drama from Turkish filmmaker Omer Kavur. Ahmet (Talat Bulut) is a journalist who takes a working holiday in Turkey, where he plans to work on a series of photos of buildings that have fallen into disuse. While dining in a cafe, Ahmet sees a group of men he believes are up to no good; he follows them to a remote area and discovers they've come to execute a man. Ahmet snaps some photos of the murder, and when he's found out, the thugs threaten Ahmet's life (as well as that of his travelling companion) if he doesn't hand over the film. While this incident is being played out in Ahmet's mind, he encounters Arzuhum (Hande Ataizi), a beautiful woman who claims her father instigated the killing. A romance quickly grows between Ahmet and Arzuhum, but Ahmet still has a number of unanswered questions when the woman disappears.
