Synopsis:
Stefan Hein, a German doctoral candidate, ostensibly journeys to San Francisco for a medical conference, but he has ulterior motives. His late father, a prominent medical researcher in the former East Germany, proposed the idea that the AIDS epidemic was the result of a botched experiment by the US government. To validate his father's theory, Stefan combs the Bay Area for survivors of a secret biogenetic program. He joins forces with a police detective who is investigating the murders of HIV-postive gay men in the city, and the two discover that their many questions may lead to a single answer.
