She's his 'Wonderwall'
Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher's girlfriend, Nicole Appleton, gave birth Monday to son Gene Appleton Gallagher in London. According to Reuters, the former All Stars pop singer gave birth to her 6-pound, 13-ounces baby boy at 1 p.m. Monday. “Both mother and son are doing very well and the new parents are thrilled at his safe arrival,” Gallagher’s publicist said in a statement. This is Appleton's first baby. Gallagher has a son, Lennon, from his previous marriage to Patsy Kensit.
Taking a break Thursday from their Latin American tour, the Backstreet Boys brushed aside recent comments by Oasis' lead singer Noel Gallagher that the boyband "can't sing, can't play, can't dance." He also said their songs were "rubbish" and the boys "should be shot," according to Reuters. During a press conference in Caracas, Venezuela, Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson said that when Oasis performed at the MTV awards, Gallagher spat on stage and looked like he was strung out on something. "He should just go back to London," A.J. McLean said. "The only thing that matters for us is if we're unhappy with our music and if our fans are happy," Richardson added.
HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 25, 2000 -- Fickle British band Oasis may be headlining, but whether they’ll play a full set is still a toss up. The outfit has signed on to head the Reading Festival and its sister fest, both in England, in a big end-of-summer musical event starting today. But the pouty outfit, led by the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, has been known to walk offstage before finishing their set. Earlier this summer, they cut their performance short after being pelted with bottles, cans and rocks in two other European shows. About 300,000 are expected to attend the two festivals, which will also include performances by Pulp, Primal Scream, Elastica, Foo Fighters, Super Furry Animals, Beck and Blink 182.
