On the Air

On the Air

Synopsis

Little more than a glorified "quota quickie," On the Air showcases the talents of 14 popular radio and music-hall acts. The virtually nonexistent plotline concerns the efforts of a village vicar to stage a charity benefit. Somehow or other, our clerical hero manages to talk several major performers into participating in his insignificant extravaganza. Among the guest stars are such regional British favorites as Clapham and Dwyer, Keppel and Betty, Jimmy Jade, Roy Fox and His Band and Buddy Bradley's Rhythm Girls. Chances are that On the Air might never have been released to the U.S. had not TV created an insatiable demand for old British movies in the early 1950s.
