Synopsis
Director Kosaku Yamashita took over for this final installment of the series begun with Ooku Maruhi Monogatari and lightened the tone considerably from its dark follow-up, Zoku Ooku Maruhi Monogatari. In this entry, a new shogun emperor is in place, following the death of his predecessor in the last film. The new emperor wants to collect the "perfect harem," and the audition process forms the bulk of the film, with surprisingly little of the political intrigue which characterized the first two entries. Yoshiko Sakuma co-stars with Reiko Ohara, Chikage Awashima, and Aiko Mimasu.
