Pure (2004)

Synopsis

A couple undergoes an unusual emotional and spiritual experience in this offbeat independent drama. Justin Carter (Jonathan Weiss) and Alia Goodwin (Tian Kitchen) are two seemingly typical upper-class twentysomethings; Justin is a club DJ who wants to move on to make his own records, while Alia is supported financially by her family but doesn't have much direction in life. Both are looking for something deeper in their lives, but when Justin asks Alia out for a date in the Garden of Eden -- the site of which is believed to be in Florida, near Miami where they live -- it's hard to say if he just has a good line or is on to something bigger. As they come to realize how much they've numbed themselves to the world around them, Justin and Alia undergo a transformative experience that changes their lives forever. Pure was the first feature film from artist and playwright Susan Karrie Braun.
