Synopsis:
The true story of Anchee Min and the struggles she endured growing up in China just before the collapse of the Mao regime. During the Cultural Revolution, Anchee Min left her life on a collective farm to work at the Shanghai Film Studio where she starred in a propaganda film based on an opera by Mao's wife. But her fame quickly dissipated after the death of Chairman Mao and the overthrow of his regime.
