Tsukino Usagi is a young schoolgirl who begins a life of fantastic adventures in this first episode in the animated Sailor Moon saga. Usagi, a girl who can't seem to do anything right, saves a black cat from a pack of cruel teenage boys. To Usagi's surprise, the cat, clearly more than she appears, speaks to Usagi. In return for Usagi's kindness, the cat gives her a brooch that turns Usagi into Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon becomes a member of the Sailor Scouts, a group of super-powered girls who must protect the forces of good from a race of evil demons that prey on humanity. This long-running Japanese series has become immensely popular among children and adults worldwide, and many episodes are available on video in the United States.
