Sweden's internationally acclaimed discus thrower Ricky Bruch is the controversial subject of this documentary by Stefan Jarl. Because of his use of stimulants and drugs to help him gain and stay in top athletic form, Bruch was denied a spot on Sweden's 1984 Olympic team. They did not object to other substances he takes, like vitamins, but they may also have been miffed by his outspoken criticisms of sports committees. Bruch went on to throw the discus three meters farther than the Olympic champion in other international competitions. Interviewed here, Bruch answers all questions openly and freely and mentions his effort, at the moment, to bring an athlete to Sweden from a communist-bloc country.
