Something New (1920)

Synopsis

Silent-screen action heroine Nell Shipman plays a writer in this mostly satirical Western that co-stars corpulent director Bert Van Tuyle as the film's less than impressive hero. Searching for "something new" to write about, Nell travels to Mexico where her father and his partner Sid Bickley (L. M. Wells) operate a mine. En route she makes the acquaintance of Bill (Van Tuyle), a modern Westerner who prefers his Maxwell automobile to the old-fashioned horse. And the car does do the trick when the girl is captured by Mexican bandito Agrilla Gorgez (Merril McCormick, here billed "William McCormack").
