Spike Lee has called
Soul Plane "coonery and buffoonery". I have never had any reason to agree with Mr. Knicks Fan before but I will say this, the Fo'ties and the fried chicken and the well-endowed Mandingo jokes aren't nearly as offensive as the movie's core premise, which is this: If a black man owned an airline, it would fail because he's black, and here are all the reasons why. And that is just sad. But there's really no need to delve any deeper into social issues.
Soul Plane is mainly offensive because it thinks it's funny, and it's not even close.
