Spare Me (1994)

Spare Me (1994)

Synopsis

Bowling is not just an affable game, but gives rise to a series of high-stakes competitions that pros and sports companies make a lot of money from. In this low-budget, independent production which is a combination sports drama and noir thriller, Theo (Lawton Paseka), a pro bowler who has been banned from the game (for bonking an opponent on the head with a ball) wants help from his bowling champion father to get reinstated. Despite his hotheaded ways, he is concerned about the ethics of accepting certain kinds of sponsorships, and is disturbed by his father's sweetheart deal with a bowling-alley owner - a man who is not above staging dwarf-bowling matches (matches where dwarves are substituted for bowling balls). He gets involved with the bowling-alley owner's daughter, and the weird stuff she is involved in, but somehow manages to survive and get back into the game.
