The faculty psychologist at the Institute for Psychology is presented with the career opportunity of a lifetime, only to find success slipping through his fingers when a new psychologist joins the staff and charms the chairman with his easygoing attitude. Manfred has always been good at his job, though he longs for something more out of life. When a coveted position opens up at the famed Institute for Psychology, Manfred takes the advice of his girlfriend Therese - also a co-worker - and begins jockeying for position. But while Manfred isn't the most obvious choice for the job, he's willing to work overtime to get himself noticed and finally earn the respect he feels he is due. Just then, a smooth-talking psychologist named Poul joins the staff and jeopardizes Manfred's plans. Now, for the first time in his life, Manfred is about to burn the rulebook and take his first true shot at success.
