Synopsis:

Like all skateboarders, Derrick Cabrera dreams of getting a sponsor one day. He is loaded with talent but he must overcome some major roadblocks before he can make his dream a reality. He is getting pressure from all sides. His parents are unhappy because he is failing out of school. His girlfriend thinks he is a loser. And his best friend has become his main skater rival.However, things really come to a head when Derrick gets arrested and he ends up running away from home. On his own, Derrick does the only thing he knows how to do and follows his dream to the Tampa Am contest, one of the only ways an unknown skater can get noticed.
