La Freccia Azzurra (1996)

La Freccia Azzurra (1996)

Synopsis

Every January 6, the good witch Belfana takes to the skies to give good Italian children special gifts. Suitable for the entire family, this animated feature (the first full-length one to be released in Italy since 1977) contains a thoughtful message as it tells the tale of the year Belfana became so terribly ill that she feared she could not make her deliveries. To insure the children's satisfaction, she enlists the aid of the treacherous Dr. Scarafoni who secretly plans to sell the toys he is supposed to give away. With wicked glee he tells the impoverished orphan Francesco that the Blue Arrow train he so desires will never be his. When Spicciola, a stuffed dog hears the cruel comment, he rallies the other toys, stages a revolt and has the toys deliver themselves.
