Synopsis
Imagine the movie Sleuth with dozens of characters instead of two, and taking place in Iran rather than Long Island. In this puzzle-thriller, it looks as though a brother and sister have hired a band of gypsies to try to frighten their widowed sister-in-law to death so that they can steal her inheritance. The harried widow tries to get the police to investigate the incidents she has been experiencing, but they don't take her seriously enough for that. However, her complaints do arouse the interest of one inspector. Not long after the gypsies decamp because they feel they are being misused in a nefarious scheme, the inspector brings them back for a final performance, which is intended to prove that the brother and sister are at the root of it. Instead, it turns out that the whole thing has been a set-up for an elaborate joke.
