Synopsis:
In German occupied Poland at the dawn of World War II, Oskar, a young German officer, and Rachel, the daughter of a Rabbi, fall in love. Forced apart by violent village massacres, they embark on a perilous journey to find one another. Pregnant, and resigned to the fact she will never be re-united with Oskar, Rachel marries Bernard, an honorable Jewish man who is willing to be father in hopes of earning her love. At the dangerous Russian front line, where violent skirmishes herald a great battle ahead, a chance reunion between Rachel and Oskar leads to tragedy, hope and one man's ultimate sacrifice.
