Synopsis:

The story of a country doctor, Corydon M. Wassell, who won the Navy Cross in World War II for humanitarianism. When the Japanese invade Java, where, separated from the woman he loves, he's tending American wounded, he learns that only the men who can walk will be evacuated. He decides to stay on Java and save the others -- any way he can.
