Synopsis:
Al Benjamin is a New York State Tax Investigator who infiltrates the Russian immigrant community in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. On the surface, Al is tracking down a mysterious confidence man who is clandestinely operating a multi-million dollar gasoline tax fraud scam. But underneath, Al is seeking to reinvent himself, and redeem himself from the middle class wasteland of his life. Joseph Romero, an NYPD policeman seeking to improve himself joins Al's quest. Soon the two find themselves swept into a vortex of mystery and a seductive way of life, coupled with romance, recrimination, raw ambition and lust for life. Ultimately, in his tireless effort to find a 'mystery man,' Al Benjamin makes many enemies.
