Synopsis
One of the great small-town stories in Utah history comes to the screen as filmmaker Isaac Goeckentz explores the shocking crime that divided a community, and the remarkable efforts of one man to start the healing process by rallying his neighbors under the banner of brotherhood and goodwill. The year was 1922, and the news was almost too shocking to believe. Local school principal Marlow J. Christensen had shot and killed one of his students. But the victim was hardly a candidate for valedictorian. In fact, he was a member of the local gang that had harassed and driven out eight principals in the past three years. In the aftermath of the shooting, the community of Uintah fell apart. But one man would make it his life's mission to bring them back together. Golden Kilburn was Marlow J. Christensen's successor at the school. Though hard work and patient understanding, Kilburn was able to turn tragedy into opportunity by transforming the lives of these violent young boys, and proving just what can be accomplished when a community decides to work together instead of pulling apart.
