Synopsis

This drama by director Jaroslav Balik is about an actor in conflict with himself and his past. Unfortunately, it sells out in the final lap but until then it offers a good race. Frantisek (Ivan Palek) lives and breathes in the world of Prague theater, so when he becomes sought after both on television and in films what started as a mixed blessing soon turns into a curse. He not only has no time for theater work, but his family is also suffering the effects of his sudden popularity. In the midst of this crisis, Frantisek encounters his former acting coach and is ashamed on two different counts. On the one hand, the coach is now a much better actor, while Frantisek cannot say he has made similar progress, and on the other, he once informed on the acting coach. In the final analysis, Frantisek realizes his problem is that he has not been a good enough communist.
