Gianni is a young man in his twenties who has a job pumping gas. His twin has Down's syndrome and lives in a state institution; his girlfriend, Betty, is ogled by her own mother's lover. Incredibly upset when Moreno, his twin, is put up for adoption, Gianni determines to fight the decision and bring him under his care. Betty is sick and tired of her deluded mother and her lecherous lover, so the two of them set out to re-establish some semblance of normalcy in their world. The attempt to acquire legal guardianship of Moreno gives their lives purpose and they set out with a single-minded resolve born of the street.
