An expose of fraternity house rituals and the pledging process, including hazing, intoxication, and verbal abuse--all in the name of 'brotherhood.' Investigating the lengths that men will go to in order to belong, documentarians Todd Phillips and Andrew Gurland must themselves participate in several weeks' buildup to "Hell Night." Push-ups in vomit, dog-cage incarceration and other forms of advanced groveling ensue. Through sustained mental and physical degredation, the pledgers believe that they've gained--albeit, earned "pride and respect" once they've passed the fraternity test!
