Synopsis
When assigned the Roger Corman-produced "girls in prison" picture Caged Heat (1974), writer/director Jonathan Demme managed to turn out a classic of its kind, as well as a sly parody of the whole genre. The belated 1994 sequel Caged Heat 2: Stripped of Freedom is merely business as usual, indistinguishable from virtually every other film in the torn-blouse, cutoff-jeans category. Still, it's fun to tick off the cliches as they parade before our eyes: the remote Philippine locations, the sadistic guards, the "butch" prison ringleader, the virginal innocent, etc. Stripped of Freedom isn't the worst of its lot, but it's no Oscar contender either.
