Synopsis
Historical drama depicting the hardships and political turmoil in 17th-century England following the Civil War and the victory of the Puritans. Following the first wave of the Protestant Reformation, Winstanley is a leader of a religious commune known as Diggers, established in Surrey to proclaim equality and the right to work "free" land, unused by the property owners, in a spirit of peaceful nonviolence.
