Synopsis
A breezy romantic-comedy with surprisingly somber undertones, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" boasts Audrey Hepburn in her career-defining role as Holly Golightly and an Oscar-winning score by Henry Mancini that includes the indelible ballad, "Moon River." Directed by Blake Edwards and based on Truman Capote's novella, it tells the story of eccentric and extroverted party girl Golightly, who lives off the generosity of various New York City gentlemen, while refusing to commit to a relationship of any kind. Complications arise in the form of George Peppard's aspiring writer and Buddy Ebsen as an unexpected figure from her past. A romantic flight of fancy for the ages, its supporting cast includes Patricia Neal, Martin Balsam and Mickey Rooney.
