Synopsis
Set several days before the infamous Bloody Sabbath of August 14, 1937 when a Japanese bomb landed on the Shanghai Hotel killing everyone, a mysterious Russian aristocrat Helen Russell arrives in the arms of her drunken British husband Bobbie Russell. She discovers that pictures of herself with a Japanese literary critic are missing while Bobbie is cruising the local opium dens with Helen's French ex-lover. On the other side of town, American journalist Frank Taylor is trying to get his confiscated newsreels returned when a riot ensues. During the confusion, Frank saves Helen and they quickly fall in love.
