Wilton Crawley and A.J. Edison, two NYU Film School graduates are making a documentary about Joe Boone. a hard-up Los Angeles private detective. But Boone's determined to prove (mostly to himself) that he's finally found his place in life. The filmmakers have everything riding on this new project. Their first movie, a three hour epic abou water delivery--was a bomb. Now all their money is in "Where's Marlowe?, and they're a little desperate to get this film finished. So, when Boone's partner, Murphy quits because when Boone discovers Murphy's inappropriate sexual involvement with a client's wife, A.J. and Witt have no choice but to become Boone's temporary partners. And Like it or not, part of their own movie. Before they can settle in, Murphy is dead, A.J. and Wilt are detectives, Boone is behind the camera, and the world is literally upside down and sideways. Thusly, Boone and his young filmmaker proteges attempt to solve real life plot of seduction, betrayal and murder.
