In this poetic meditation on the life of a dreamy child, the orphaned Yekta is the rather spoiled ward of her grandparents. They live together with a crippled seagull in a house along the Bosporous straits. As Yekta so often plays alone, she has developed a vivid imagination, full of mythological content. None of this bothers her grandparents. But when she begins to take photographs of the ghost of her mother and insists that she can't go off to school, they become quite exasperated with her.
