While in recovery from a nervous breakdown, actress Maria Wyeth recalls the rise and fall of her career. Initially a model who moved into acting via low-budget biker films, she married the director of those films, Carter Lang. Sadly, the more successful he became in the business, the less attention he gave to Maria. She responded to his neglect by having affairs, and when one of these resulted in a pregnancy, Carter divorced her. Shortly after her divorce, Maria's best friend committed suicide, and the events prompted her breakdown.
