Airport Official: ‘Bono was never in danger during jet drama’

A spokesman for Berlin’s airport has insisted Bono’s private jet was in no danger of crashing after the plane’s rear door fell off during a flight.

The U2 frontman was traveling from Dublin, Ireland to Berlin, Germany on Wednesday (12Nov14), when the Learjet’s tailgate became detached and reports suggested the singer narrowly escaped a nasty plane crash. However, Berlin Schonefeld Airport spokesman Ralf Kunkel has now insisted the jet was never in danger of falling from the sky.

He says, “To our knowledge, there was no danger of crashing. The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident.”

Bono lost his luggage when the door fell off, but no injuries were reported. The singer had not commented on the drama as WENN went to press.
