Just a brief time ago, an air of mystery surrounded the private lives of all the leaders of Soviet Russia, including the life of Stalin's wife. At the tender age of 16, Nadezhda Alliluyev married Joseph Stalin, 23 years her senior. Throughout their 14 years of marriage, Nadezhda stood by as Stalin was transformed from an ordinary revolutionary into the dictator of Russia with unlimited powers. This transformation did not make Nadezhda happy. One morning she was found dead in her bed with a revolver by her side. To this day historians are uncertain as to whether she killed herself or was murdered.
