The Pentagon has planned to build a missile base on some land in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, but hillbilly Pappy Tatum wants no "government critters" on his land. So the "Operation Smoky Mountain" team goes to win hearts and minds in the area. 2nd Lieutenant Josh Morgan, a native of the mountains from North Carolina, is included as a liaison. When they arrive, Josh meets some distant relatives, including a look-alike cousin named Jodie Tatum, and two beautiful female cousins, Azalea and Selena. Both women compete for Josh's attention, but he chooses Selena, while Jodie falls for PFC Midge Riley. Eventually, Josh convinces Pappy to sell part of his mountain to the government, with the provision that they do not interfere with his moonshine business.
