Synopsis
A movie about Hank Mercer, a successful writer of detective novels featuring a tough-talking, gut-shooting private eye, Biff Deegan. When Mercer decides to discard his lucrative character to write intellectual novels, his publisher agrees on the condition that he is able to solve a real mystery. When Mercer becomes involved in the case, he finds he needs the assistance of his alter ego, Biff Deegan.
