3 Recent + Upcoming Horror Movies To Watch in Theaters

With the start of my first official autumn with seasonal changes, I feel more in the spirit of Halloween than ever before. My apartment building has several decorated doors with ghosts, haunts, candles, and more. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited for October 31st!

I’m the type of person who likes horror movies any time of year. There’s something uniquely special about trying to piece together the clues of who’s the killer, betting on who the last girl will be, or watching other people tense up in their seats in theaters. In October, these aspects of horror movies get me even more excited and ready for Halloween.

So if you’re looking for new movie releases in theaters, I’m here to let you know what’s good in the ‘Wood.

In the film, a childless couple (Noomi Rapace and Hilmir Snær Guðnason) living in rural Iceland discover a strange newborn lamb in their sheep barn. The couple immediately feel attached to her and want to raise her as their own, but forces outside of their control want to return her to the wilderness.

Last Night in Soho

Last Night in Soho is a psychological horror film directed by Edgar Wright (known for directing films like Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver) who co-wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. The film follows Eloise, played by Thomasin McKenzie, as she’s transported back in time to the 1960s into the body of her idol, Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy). As Eloise explores this time period and her new love life, she realizes that not everything is what it seems as the past and present begin to fall apart.

The cast includes actors like Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham and Terence Stamp.

Maddy and other fans are eagerly anticipating the movie.

Shawn was beyond impressed with Edgar Wright’s work.

The film is released in theaters this weekend.

Personally, I’m most excited for Last Night in Soho. Since I saw the trailer several months ago, every time I see it again before another movie, I’m reminded why I want to watch it. My friends have heard me say “we have to see that” every time we pass the poster at our local AMC. There’s something so charming to me about movies that take place in different time periods and I’m thrilled that it takes that in a horror direction. I can’t wait to see it!
