An innovative musician and performer from the 1930s up until his death from a brain tumor in 1978, Louis Prima knew how to adapt himself to the times. A trumpeter, singer and composer, Prima got his start playing jazzy dance numbers in 1930s New York and Los Angeles. In the 40's Prima was part of the big band craze, in the 50's he moved into lounge mixed with rock 'n' roll and the 60's saw him flirting with twist. Married five times, Prima collaborated musically with his two wives, singers Keely Smith and Gia Maione.
