This milestone in cinema history is a neorealist Italian film about a man searching for his stolen bicycle in post World War II Rome and the effect his growing desperation has on his family and himself. Lamberto Maggiorani is an unemployed man with a wife and son to take care of during tough times. He manages to find a job, but his employment is contingent on him owning a bicycle. When the man's bicycle is stolen, he begins a search on the streets of Rome that is heartbreakingly genuine and honest in its depiction of a man of little means on the razor's edge.
