Cat, a New Age motivational speaker, seems to take her mother's death a little too easily until a luscious bouquet of roses appears on the doorstep of mum's house. When the roses inexplicably multiply, covering the livingroom in a tangled jungle of red blooms, Cat doesn't know if she's witnessing a small miracle or simply hallucinating. These mysterious flowers signal the end of an orderly, sensible life for Cat, and the beginning of a magical personal journey guided by the flamboyant ghost of her dead mother, Katya- and a clutch of her mother's old friends. With the help of Katya, Cat looks into the past to find egregious misreadings of parental good guys and villains, reassesses her values, and gets a clearer view of the present. Does she want to maintain an exciting life-on-the-run with her celebrity boyfriend, or does she want to put down roots, perhaps return to her love of raising horses? Slowly, Cat learns to trust herself rather than the platitudes she preached as a success coach.
