In this opera about the death of 10 different composers, all from mysterious circumstances, the focus is on fictional composer Juan Manuel, shot and killed in 1952. Manuel was living in Uruguay at the time in a former slaughterhouse. As investigators dig into Manuel's life, they discover his love affair with Esmeralda and the ill-fated consequences of her jealousy, when Manuel transferred his affections away from her and onto his beloved horse.
