John is a driver for an escort service in downtown New York City, finally aging out of his young, trendy neighborhood and dealing with the beginnings of the next chapter of his life. His friends are the party girls he works for, Violet and Mia, who survive on their ability to manipulate men and don't know how to live any other way. But they trust John, and their relationship gives all three comfort and refuge from the downward spiral of their self-destructive but entertaining lifestyles. When John impulsively steals a camcorder to capture the sights, sounds, and senses of New York, he starts recording nature, people and himself, and then focuses on his party girls. The camcorder unravels the girls' lives, as both Violet and Mia find themselves attempting to outdo each others' secrets and opinions.
